Derek Smith is the Vice President of Business Development & Partnerships at ModoHR. He has over 25 years of leadership experience in various technology-oriented companies including being the Managing Director of Apple Canada, Vice President & General Manager of Hewlett-Packard Canada, Senior Vice-President of SterlingBackCheck and most recently the General Manager for Xref North America. As an entrepreneur, Derek was the owner of the company that launched Fitbit in Canada and grew the business to $125m in over 2,000 retailer outlets. Derek is also a board member of the Professional Background Screening Association in Canada, board member for the Georgetown BIA, Mentor for the Humber College Centre for Entrepreneurship, and Business Mentor for the Forum for Woman Entrepreneurs.
